Precision Grinding Operator 2nd shift

Kings Mountain International has one Precision Grinding Operator (Level 1) position available on 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 10:30 pm) Monday through Friday. [2nd Shift Premium of $2.00/hour in addition to hourly rate.] Sets up and operates precision grinding machines to produce sheet metals of uniform thickness within wide tolerance limits, and to prepare surface of sheets for polishing to a specified finish. The Grinding Operator sets up the machine selecting and installing the appropriate grinding belt, adjusting tension, tracking, and oscillation. Adjusts table stroke and speed. Operates a jib crane and overhead crane as needed to move large steel plates and position them on the machine. This is a safety sensitive position. Uses a variety of measuring tools to determine precision thickness of plate as specified by Customer. Inspects and documents work throughout shift. Reports production time, abrasive belts used, gaskets and any extra materials. Education /

Experience/Skills:

Must have a high school diploma or GED. Prefer one year of manufacturing experience. Basic computer skills and basic math required. Operates a tablet.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally lifts or moves up to 75 pounds. Push/pull heavy suspended loads and heavy plates on buggies. Requires constant standing, walking. May climb, stoop, kneel, and seldom sits. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Not climate-controlled environment. Moderate noise levels. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, able to adjust focus.
