1:00 pm - 5:45 pm Salaried This is a 12-month position, Monday through Friday. A Preschool Afternoon Lead Teacher is passionate about supporting the children and teachers of the Preschool as they live out Forsyth Country Day School's mission of preparing our children for what's ahead. The Preschool Afternoon Lead Teacher will be responsible for helping the Morning Lead Teacher to foster growth in all domains of development.Those domains include the following:
Social and Emotional, Language and Literacy, Mathematical Reasoning, Physical Development, and Practical Life Skills. Afternoon Lead Teachers are committed to growth as professionals and individuals, and value and respect every member of the community.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Model and instill a love of learning Collaborate with the Morning Lead Teacher to support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children's learning and growth Collaborate with the Morning Lead Teacher to support student performance in all areas of development: Social and Emotional, Language and Literacy, Mathematical Reasoning, Physical Development, and Practical Life Skills Collaborate with the Morning Lead Teacher to support appropriate instruction in line with the school standards, curriculum, and student needs Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect Manage student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategiesJOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to positively contribute to a team environment and to our school community A commitment to work collaboratively and innovatively with colleagues Excellent understanding of the social, emotional, and academic needs of preschool age children and how to provide for them Ability to communicate respectfully, proactively, and honestly both verbally and in writingQUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred; early childhood credentials required Minimum two years of teaching in an early childhood environmentESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
