The Griffin Academy at Westminster School provides a nurturing, joyful, and engaging early childhood experience within Westminster School's independent Preschool-8th Grade community. Our preschool program emphasizes social, emotional, and cognitive growth in a warm and supportive environment where young children thrive.

Position Summary:

The Griffin Academy seeks a creative, energetic, dependable, and warmhearted Preschool Aide to support our 3- and 4-year-old classrooms. Classroom size never exceeds 14 children per class. The Preschool Aide will work closely with the lead teacher to help create and maintain a loving, calm, and engaging classroom environment while supporting the developmental needs of our youngest learners. Schedule & Compensation Part-Time Position Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Additional hours may occasionally be available $20.00 per hour (paid monthly)

Responsibilities:

Assist the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities Supervise and engage children to encourage positive interactions and conflict resolution Support daily classroom operations, including preparation of materials and activities Assist with creating engaging bulletin boards and dramatic play centers Help monitor children's progress and development Communicate effectively with parents regarding classroom activities and student progress Assist with classroom cleanup following snack and lunch Assist children with expected bathroom accidents Foster a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment Work collaboratively with faculty and staff in a team-oriented setting

Qualifications Required:

Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, OR CDA Certification, OR 25 hours of continuing education related to Early Childhood Education CPR and First Aid Certification Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment Ability to adapt and remain flexible throughout the school day Completion of required Virginia online training Two character references
