Job description: 2 Part-time Preschool Assistants (4 days/wk and 5 days/wk)

Monday-Friday 8:45am-1:15pm OR Tues/Thurs 9:00am-2:30pm / Mon/Wed 10:00-2:30 Start date: Sept 2, 2026

Flourish Nature School is a growing nature-based preschool for curious 2.5-5 year olds, located on the property of Johnsonburg Camp and Retreat Center. We aim to spend the majority of our school day outdoors — exploring, playing, discovering, and learning about the world around us. Role:

We're looking for two caring, reliable, and energetic Assistant Teachers to join our team. This role is best for someone who loves working with young children, thrives outdoors in all seasons, and enjoys getting hands-on with play, art, and exploration. You'll be working alongside our lead teacher to support a group of up to 14 children, maintaining our 1:7 ratio, and helping create a nurturing, engaging environment. One teacher will work 4 days a week, and the other 5 days a week.

What You'll Do:

Support in all aspects of the school day - welcoming families, classroom management, lessons, play, outdoor time, departure. Help with daily routines, including meals, bathroom breaks, and transitions. Keep children safe, engaged, and supported, whether we're indoors or out. Assist with setting up and cleaning up activities and materials. Assist in upkeeping a clean and organized indoor and outdoor classroom environment. Model kindness, patience, and respect in all interactions. Follow our daily rhythm and support our nature-inspired curriculum. Communicate and collaborate positively with children, families, co-teachers, and staff members. Confidence in supporting as a lead with a substitute, if the lead teacher is out. You If You:

Have experience working with young children (preschool experience is a bonus, but not required). Are dependable, flexible, and eager to jump in where needed. Enjoy being outside in all kinds of weather — yes, even rainy and snowy days! Have a warm and playful spirit, but can also set clear boundaries firmly. Are comfortable helping with the physical aspects of the job (lifting up to 50 lbs if needed, being on your feet, getting down on your knees, moving around with the kids, hiking on our trails).
