Preschool Associate (2026-2027)

Iowa Valley CSD is located in Marengo, which is approx. 30 minutes West of the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor. We have an opening for a Preschool Associate for the 2026-2027 School year.

Job Overview :

The Preschool Associate plays a key role in supporting preschool teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children. This position involves assisting in classroom management, helping children with daily routines, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities that encourage social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

Key Responsibilities :

Assist in

Classroom Management :

Support the preschool teacher in organizing and maintaining a structured, engaging, and positive classroom environment.

Supervise Children :

Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, during activities, free play, meals, naps, and transitions. Assist with

Educational Activities :

Help plan and lead developmentally appropriate lessons, activities, and projects that promote children's growth in areas such as language, motor skills, creativity, and social development.

Support Social and Emotional Development :

Assist children in developing positive social interactions by teaching sharing, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Provide Personal Care :

Assist children with daily routines such as washing hands, using the restroom, and eating meals. Ensure children's hygiene and health needs are met. Create a

Safe and Clean Environment :

Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and outdoor areas. Ensure that learning materials and toys are safe and sanitized. Communicate with

Parents :

Inform parents about their child's daily activities, behavior, and development in a friendly and professional manner. Report any concerns or incidents.

Observe and Record Child Progress :

Document children's behavior, developmental milestones, and other key observations for progress reports or parent conferences. Assist with

Transitions :

Help children transition smoothly between activities and routines, providing support and reassurance. Participate in

Staff Meetings :

Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required by the preschool. Work as Part of a

Team :

Collaborate with other preschool staff to ensure the overall well-being and development of the children, while fostering a supportive team environment.

Working Conditions :

Full-time shift in a preschool setting. The role may involve physical activities such as standing, sitting on the floor, and assisting with child movement. Occasional lifting of children or educational materials. Work environment is generally indoors with occasional outdoor activities, weather permitting. Iowa Valley CSD is an EOE.
