Vessel Welder
- $25-28/hr Job Description This role focuses on preparing parts, welding components into assemblies, and producing high‑quality pressure vessels and related structures on the 2nd shift.
You will interpret production orders and blueprints, perform MIG and TIG welding on carbon steel, and support continuous improvement by suggesting better methods, procedures, or equipment. The position offers direct placement, strong growth potential, and a clean, organized weld and machine shop environment. Responsibilities Follow production orders to prepare parts and weld components into complete assemblies. Perform MIG and TIG welding on carbon steel in accordance with established company procedures and documents. Execute welds that meet defined quality standards and applicable codes, including ASME-related requirements. Read and interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS), drawings, and blueprints to complete jobs accurately. Weld pipe, pressure vessels, and pressure tanks, ensuring proper fit-up and alignment. Perform fitting and assembly work, including measuring, cutting, and positioning components prior to welding. Carry out general fabrication tasks such as cutting, punching, and grinding to prepare materials for welding. Use tools and equipment such as tape measures, press brakes, and plasma cutting equipment safely and effectively. Perform structural welding as required to support production needs. Inspect welds and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications. Maintain a methodical, organized, and precise approach to all tasks to support consistent quality. Propose new methods, procedures, or equipment that improve efficiency and/or quality in the welding and fabrication process. Collaborate with team members to solve problems and complete projects on schedule. Maintain a clean, orderly work area and adhere to all safety practices within the weld and machine shop. Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute to a team-oriented, serene work environment. Essential Skills At least 3 to 5 years of welding experience in a production or fabrication environment. 2 to 5 years of MIG welding experience on carbon steel. 2 to 5 years of TIG welding experience on carbon steel. 2 to 5 years of blueprint reading and utilization experience. 2 to 5 years of welding and fabrication experience, including cutting, punching, and grinding. Experience welding pipe, pressure vessels, and pressure tanks. Experience with welding certifications in accordance with ASME standards. Ability to read and apply welding procedure specifications (WPS). Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints accurately. Proficiency in fitting and assembly work for welded structures. Ability to use tape measures, press brakes, and plasma cutting equipment. Experience with structural welding in a shop environment. Strong aptitude for problem solving and working collaboratively in a team. Methodical, organized, and precise work habits. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated ability to contribute ideas for process, quality, or equipment improvements. Comfort working in both weld shop and machine shop settings. Work Environment The position is on 2nd shift, typically from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with initial training provided on 1st shift for approximately 2 to 4 weeks. You will work in a clean, comfortable, and organized weld and machine shop that supports efficient and safe operations. The environment emphasizes continuous improvement, teamwork, and a calm, focused atmosphere so you can concentrate on producing high-quality work. You will regularly use welding equipment for MIG and TIG processes, as well as fabrication tools such as press brakes, plasma cutters, and grinding equipment. The shop is structured to support both productivity and precision, with clear procedures and standards guiding daily work.
