Payroll Specialist (Prevailing Wage) Position Summary The Payroll Specialist (Prevailing Wage) is responsible for the full-cycle processing of all company payroll, including both prevailing wage and non-prevailing wage employees. This role ensures accurate, timely payroll processing while maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and local wage and labor regulations. The position serves as the primary point of accountability for payroll accuracy, reporting, and audit readiness. Key Responsibilities Process all payroll cycles (weekly), including prevailing wage and standard payroll Apply correct wage rates based on job classification, project, and jurisdiction Calculate, track, and allocate prevailing wage fringe benefits (cash and/or benefits) Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports for applicable federal, state, and municipal projects Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws, wage determinations, and labor regulations Maintain complete and accurate payroll records for audits and inspections Reconcile payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and correct wage issues as needed Coordinate with HR, Finance, and project management to verify hours, job codes, and classifications Process payroll deductions, taxes, garnishments, and benefit contributions Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies Support internal and external payroll audits and government inquiries Stay current on changes to payroll laws and prevailing wage requirements Qualifications Three or more years of payroll processing experience within the construction industry Demonstrated experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax requirements, and wage compliance High level of accuracy and attention to detail Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel Ability to manage confidential information with discretion Preferred Qualifications Experience managing payroll independently Construction or public works payroll experience Familiarity with state prevailing wage laws Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification (preferred, not required) The Company is an equal opportunity employer.
