Job DescriptionJob Description Pricing Lead Position Summary:
The Pricing Lead is responsible for creating prices for the Steven Label business across all product categories. This role blends a thorough understanding of the cost base - working with the estimating team to prepare accurate and competitive job estimates to create a floor price, representing an accurate understanding of the cost to produce. This role then evaluates the selling situation working with Business Development and Customer Service to determine what price should be quoted to a customer. This will take into account the strategic nature of the customer, market segment, product type, competitive landscape and prior history such as win/ loss. Lead pricing team providing goals, objectives, managing workload, articulating priorities and supporting the business needs. Essential Functions of the role include: Working with Estimating & Cost Analysis team to understand ability and cost to produce: Review customer specifications, artwork, and technical requirements to understand project scope. Prepare detailed cost estimates for printing, finishing, packaging, and fulfillment processes. Calculate material usage-including paper, substrates, inks, coatings, dies, plates, and tooling-based on project requirements. Analyze labor and machine time, considering setup, run speeds, waste factors, and post-press operations. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative materials or production methods when appropriate. Coordinate with Purchasing to verify material costs, lead times, and vendor capabilities. Partner with Production and Planning teams to confirm process capability, timelines, and resource availability. Maintain accuracy of estimating software, cost models, and pricing tools. Working with Business Development & Customer Service to: Understand selling situation including strategic nature of customer, market segment, product type, required quantities, competitive landscape, win/ loss from prior bids. provide pricing recommendations, and support quoting strategies. Deploy agreed pricing strategies onto estimates created above, creating a price-to-win Meet customer deadlines forRFQs Team Leadership, Data Management, Process Improvement:
Manage employee actions including but not limited to: daily time management and approvals, time off requests, recruitment, performance management, progressive discipline, and training needs. Foster a positive work culture and promote teamwork and collaboration among team members. Provide work direction and ensure appropriate workload balance among the team. Ensure adherence to daily standard work and other company programs/initiatives (ie. 5s, KPIs, , continuous improvement projects, etc.). Track win/ loss ratios to inform future pricing Utilize a database of material costs, labor rates, equipment specifications, and vendor pricing, working with procurement where this doesn't exist Working with estimating to track actual production costs against estimates to identify variances and improve future accuracy. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating, pricing, workflow efficiency, and cost control.Required Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Commercial mindset and willingness to learn how to maximize pricing opportunities while meeting strategic goals of the business. 3+ years of estimating experience in the printing, packaging, or manufacturing industry (labels, cartons, flexo, offset, or digital preferred). Strong understanding of printing processes (offset, digital, flexographic), finishing operations, and packaging manufacturing. Familiarity with estimating software such as Prism, EFI Pace, PrintVis, LabelTraxx, or similar systems preferred. Intermediate ERP knowledge and skills Strong mathematical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to interpret technical specifications, artwork files, and CAD dielines. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments. High proficiency in Excel Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Problem-solving mindset with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and customer service. ISO 9001 orISO 13485
