pre-licensed therapists prefered licensure NOT required Position Summary A Substance Abuse Therapist provides counseling and therapeutic support to individuals struggling with alcohol, drug, and behavioral addictions. The therapist assesses client needs, develops treatment plans, facilitates individual and group therapy sessions, and helps clients build coping skills to support long-term recovery. Key Responsibilities Conduct client assessments and intake evaluations Develop individualized treatment and recovery plans Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions Maintain accurate clinical documentation and treatment records Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as needed Educate clients and families about addiction and recovery processes Coordinate care with healthcare providers, case managers, probation officers, and community resources Facilitate relapse prevention and crisis intervention strategies Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws and ethical standards Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings Required Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field Knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and recovery principles Strong communication, interpersonal, and crisis management skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Preferred Qualifications Experience working in inpatient or outpatient treatment settings Experience with co-occurring mental health disorders Familiarity with evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing Skills and Competencies Empathy and active listening Conflict resolution and de-escalation Case management and documentation Group facilitation Cultural competency Time management
