The Building Principal provides the school-based leadership required to sustain the focus of improving instruction to increase the achievement of all students in a safe learning environment while ensuring the orderly and efficient operation of the school.Job Qualifications:
Possess or qualify for School Principal/Assistant Principal Certification in Delaware. Master's degree in Educational Administration or successful completion of a leadership development program. At least five years of successful educator experience. At least three years of demonstrated and effective school leadership experience. Exceptional and effective interpersonal communication in writing and public speaking skills. Experience working with a diverse student and staff population. Demonstrate leadership strengths in solid instructional practices, professional development, school-based management, and program innovation. Knowledge and experience in data analysis and interpretation to set goals for the improvement and growth of all students. Demonstrate leadership skills to coordinate the efforts of teachers, support staff, parents, and community agencies to maximize students' personal and intellectual development, knowledge, and understanding of the district's mission and philosophy. Demonstrate the use of operational and instructional technology. Demonstrate pursuit of continued professional growth. Knowledge of best practices in the field of education. Knowledge of federal, state, and local education-related regulations. Experience with students in specialized settings, including knowledge of effective implementation and instructional practices, preferred. Successful work history in all educational experiences. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptableEssential Functions:
Communicates a clear vision of excellence and continuous improvement consistent with the school district's goals. Provide leadership to ensure measurable student performance and achievement improvement. Provide educational leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating the school's Continuous Improvement Plan. Assumes responsibility for the school's instructional program's organization, administration, and supervision. Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet the school's needs. Supervise and monitor school-wide Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to advance the academics and behaviors of students and manage a productive School Climate and Culture. Implement school board policy, state statutes, and federal regulations pertaining to the school. Provide leadership in identifying and assessing strategies to accomplish school board goals and the district strategic plan. Work collaboratively with District Office staff to implement district initiatives. Plans programs of study and schedules classes to meet individual needs. Establishes and manages programs implementing IDEA regulations (IEPs and 504s). Provides initiative and leadership for organizational improvements. Supervise and monitor the accurate and timely completion of data collection and reporting requirements. Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances. Work collaboratively with the community to interpret and explain school policies and programs, build community through clear communication, and solicit input from all stakeholders, including parents, staff, students, and community members. Coordinates and evaluates the performance of the professional staff members and support staff using State procedures. Design programs to improve the performance of the professional staff members and support staff. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and possess the ability to work with diverse groups of students, staff, and community. Demonstrate personal integrity in all interactions, which includes honesty, accessibility, availability, developing caring, trusting relationships through open communications, and a commitment to follow through with all constituents. Recruit and select qualified personnel for employment that reflect racial and ethnic diversity. Implement and administer personnel management and support services policies and procedures. Meet contractual obligations following all negotiated agreements. Manage the school's financial resources, including the preparation and disbursement of the school's budget and internal accounts. Manage school-sponsored events, including coordinating supervision and maintaining a calendar of school events. Assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by District Office Administrators.Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to the finger(s), handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, use fingers to type and/or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds. If lifting in excess of this weight is necessary, the assistance of a second per is required. The physical demands of this position will also include the ability of the individual to perform all of the essential functions and related responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.Work Environment:
