Job Description

The Process Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, troubleshooting, and improving manufacturing processes within a complex production environment. This role ensures the stability, efficiency, and quality of operations by applying engineering principles, data analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies. The Process Engineer collaborates closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and cross-functional teams to resolve process issues, implement improvements, and support operational excellence. Assigned to a high-speed, automated manufacturing process, the Process Engineer supports all aspects of process design, control, and optimization—including material flow, equipment performance, process parameter management, and quality assurance. The role is critical in driving process reliability, reducing waste, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES JOB FUNCTIONS
(Job functions include but are not limited to the following) Embody EGGER Core Values. Analyze, monitor, and optimize manufacturing processes to achieve safety, quality, throughput, and cost targets. Develop, evaluate, implement, and maintain process control strategies for automated production lines for increased safety, efficiency, and quality. Troubleshoot and resolve process, equipment, and quality issues in partnership with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for process variability, defects, and downtime events. Collect, analyze, and interpret production data and KPIs to identify trends and drive performance improvements. Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability and uptime. Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) focused on process optimization and waste reduction. Design and execute process trials, validations, and scale-ups for new products or process changes. Develop and update standard operating procedures, process documentation, and training materials. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with upstream and downstream operations to maintain production flow and minimize bottlenecks. Provide technical support and training to production teams and operators. Other duties as assigned.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS
Office Standard:
8-hour M-F assignment; however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing/walking for extended periods of time up to 12 hours in a manufacturing environment. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Working in office and industrial conditions including heat, noise, dust, and moving mechanical equipment. Reading computer screens, control systems, and production data. Ability to hear and respond to audible alarms, equipment signals, and verbal instructions is required to ensure safety in the manufacturing environment. Use of various office and industrial tools or equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE
Entry-level; recent college graduate with internship, co-op, or relevant project experience in process engineering or manufacturing operations preferred. Exposure to automated manufacturing systems, process control, or high-volume production environments through academic coursework, internships, or research projects is a plus. Participation in cross-functional teams, student organizations, or improvement projects is desirable.
SKILLS, EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) required. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems. Working knowledge of process control concepts, automation systems, and industrial equipment. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency in data analysis tools and process modeling software.
