Job Description
Overview We have an excellent opportunity for a Process Utility to join our team at Roanoke Cement Company. This hourly position reports to the Production Supervisor and offers a starting rate of $35.89 per hour ( less $2.00 during the 120-day probationary period ) . Responsibilities Adhere to all safety procedures, protocols, and regulations to create a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives. Operate and control various machinery and equipment involved in the cement production process, such as crushers, kilns, mills, and conveyors. Continuously monitor equipment performance, process parameters, and production metrics to identify any abnormalities or deviations from standard operating procedures. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or process inefficiencies promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production targets. Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment, machinery, and control systems used in cement production, including motors, generators, conveyors, and other industrial machinery throughout the plant. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to effectively troubleshoot and repair systems. Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to coordinate electrical repairs and maintenance activities. Document all maintenance and repair activities, including equipment inspections, repairs, and replacements. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in cement production and electrical systems. Communicate both orally and in writing, to create and maintain records. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum 3 years experience working at the cement plant in Production preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience working as an Industrial Electrician in a cement production facility or similar heavy industrial environment required. VA Journeyman Card preferred. Completion of apprenticeship program and/or certification as an Industrial Electrician preferred.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures applicable to industrial environments, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Strong knowledge of electrical systems and wiring, components, and equipment used in heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Must have the knowledge, skills and ability to perform installations, repairs and identify items in this category. Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards. Skills/Abilities Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions effectively. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Basic computer skills for data entry, equipment monitoring, and accessing electronic documentation. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficient in troubleshooting electrical systems and identifying faults. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Ability to distinguish color for electrical purposes. Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
