Job Description

Summary:
To process all research and development projects by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Design and modify detailed three-dimensional parametric models, assemblies, two-dimensional drawings and renderings of new and existing products, fixtures and tooling using Solidworks CAD software. Create and maintain product and component part numbers and bills of materials in Infor CSI. Analyze, create, and review product design changes to correct operating and/or manufacturing deficiencies and design flaws. Aid in the identification, implementation, and review of solutions to improve production efficiency. Collaborate with production staff to design, develop, and modify jigs, fixtures, and tooling. Compile, review and analyze design specifications, customer contracts, sketches, drawings, ideas, performance and regulatory requirements and related data to evaluate factors affecting component designs, procedures, and instructions to be followed. Develop a strong working relationship with all functional teams including but not limited to sales, purchasing, marketing, distribution, quality control and production. Aid in sourcing, verification, validation and debugging of new and/or revised products and prototypes. Participate in design review meetings. Aid in peer drawing, model, design, and specifications review. Provide technical support to the Quality Assurance team including but not limited to creating failure analysis reports, vendor product deviation and first article sample reviews. Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components using computer-assisted equipment. Confer with customer representatives to review product design and answer questions pertaining to a product. Establishes and maintains project reports for all design or redesign projects including changes made and implementation schedules. Recommends related products to be incorporated within product line. Maintains current knowledge of related industries. Participates in required on the job training programs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
BS in engineering with preferred discipline in mechanical, manufacturing, design or industrial engineering or 10+ years relevant work experience. Proficient in creating 3D models and two-dimensional drawings using Solidworks CAD software.
Language Ability:
Full command of the English language. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, inventory software, development software, Solidworks CAD software, internet software, order processing systems, database software and e-mail.

Measuring devises including, but not limited to: outside and inside micrometers, bore gauges, digital calipers, comparator, hardness gauge, scales, and tape measure.
