Job Title:
Production Associate Job Description This role offers full-time, long-term opportunities for motivated individuals to work in a plastics manufacturing facility in Oscoda, Michigan. Production Associates operate and support various machines and departments. All roles are trainable, making this an excellent opportunity for entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn. Responsibilities Operate and support production equipment in departments such as Grinders, Injection Mold Machines and Presses. Catch flooring sheets as they come out of the machine in the Catch Department, ensuring safe handling and proper stacking or staging. Load and unload product into grinders, monitoring material flow and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Use hot air tools to weld roof rack side pieces, following safety guidelines and quality standards. Operate injection molding machines following standard operating procedures to produce plastic components. Run presses to stamp or press out interlocking flooring pieces, ensuring consistent output and product quality. Perform general labor tasks such as packaging, assembly, and material handling as needed to support production. Inspect products for defects or inconsistencies and report issues to the appropriate personnel. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working around machinery and hot equipment. Arrive on time, work scheduled shifts consistently, and complete assigned tasks with a strong focus on reliability and teamwork. Participate in training on 1st shift and apply learned skills across assigned departments. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient and safe operations. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to work scheduled shifts consistently. Willingness to learn and adapt, with a strong "I can learn" attitude. Ability to perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing environment. Capability to operate or support machines such as grinders, presses, injection molding equipment, and welding tools after training. Attention to detail for basic inspection of products and adherence to quality standards. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle materials, and work in a warm manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, production, packaging, or assembly is helpful but not required. Experience with extrusion or injection molding is considered a bonus. Previous experience with machine operation in a manufacturing setting is advantageous. Familiarity with plastics or injection molding machines is beneficial. Openness to summertime or seasonal work for those seeking shorter-term opportunities. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a plastics manufacturing facility located in Oscoda, Michigan. The environment includes operating and working around machinery such as grinders, presses, injection molding machines. The facility can become warm during the summer months, and employees should be comfortable working in a production setting with continuous machine operations. Training takes place on 1st shift. Current schedules include 1st shift (7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m.-7:30 a.m.), with upcoming transition to 12-hour shifts: 1st shift from 6:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 2nd shift from 6:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Weekend shifts are available as well and follow the same 12-hour schedule on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with shift premiums for day and night weekend shifts. Employees should be prepared for full-time hours in a structured, shift-based production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oscoda, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.90/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
