Job Title:
Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate works in a glass manufacturing plant, supporting various stages of the production process. In this role, you perform visual inspections, complete quality checks, operate and tend machinery, and handle materials to ensure products are prepared accurately and safely for shipment. You collaborate closely with maintenance and production teams to keep operations running smoothly and meet customer specifications. Responsibilities Work in a manufacturing plant and support an assigned area of the glass production process. Visually inspect glass parts and perform quality checks to ensure products meet required standards. Load and unload glass on various conveyor systems in a safe and efficient manner. Move racks and products within the facility to prepare items for shipment. Band racks of products according to specific customer requirements and specifications. Pack products accurately and securely for shipment to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) clients. Perform minor adjustments to machinery as needed to maintain smooth operation. Communicate clearly with the maintenance team when breakdowns or issues occur and explain the problems while maintenance performs repairs. Operate production and assembly equipment as assigned, following established procedures and safety guidelines. Use forklifts and other material handling equipment as required to move products and materials. Follow all quality, safety, and production guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment. Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to the attendance policy, especially during the first 90 days. Participate in training on day shift and transition to the assigned night shift schedule as required. Essential Skills Experience in production, general production, or manufacturing environments. Ability to perform visual inspection of parts and conduct basic quality checks. Machine operating experience, including basic machine operation and adjustment. Assembly experience, including general assembly and automotive assembly. Ability to operate forklifts or willingness to learn forklift operation where required. Experience as a production worker, machine operator, or in general labor roles. Ability to perform packing and packaging tasks accurately and efficiently. Strong attention to detail to identify defects and ensure product quality. Reliability and commitment to consistent attendance, especially during the initial 90-day period. Willingness to work 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3-3 schedule, including days or nights. Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment that can be hot in summer and cold in winter. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a warehouse or plant environment is beneficial for entry-level quality inspection roles. One to two years of experience working with machines or operating machinery is preferred for more advanced assembly roles. Experience in automotive assembly or related manufacturing is an advantage. Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance and production teams. Willingness to progress from Production Associate to higher-level roles such as Production Technician as experience grows. Openness to shift-based training, including initial orientation on day shift followed by transition to night shift. Comfort working with conveyor systems and material handling equipment. Work Environment You work in a plant production environment that is clean and focused on safety. The facility is non-climate controlled, so it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. You receive thorough training to perform your role confidently and safely. Attendance is critical, particularly in the first 90 days when a point-based attendance system is in place. The standard schedule consists of 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3-3 rotation, primarily on day or night shifts, with training typically conducted on days before transitioning to nights. Some schedules, such as Shift K, run Monday to Wednesday and every other Monday to Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. Orientation is held on first shift during the first week, typically Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., before you move into your regular shift. You must wear safety shoes made of leather, which you provide yourself, while the company supplies a high-visibility vest, hearing protection, and other required safety gear. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vonore, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.98 - $19.48/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
