A electronics manufacturer is seeking an Production Expeditor to join their team in
San Jose, CA Summary:
The Production Expeditor reports to the Director of Manufacturing and the Manufacturing manager. The Expeditor is responsible for driving the timely completion of work orders across all production stages. This role acts as the key liaison between the shop floor and support departments: including Planning, Materials, Quality, Debug, and Program Management to resolve bottlenecks, coordinate missing parts, and close gaps between the MES and ERP systems. The Expeditor focuses on the aging and clean-up of open work orders and ensures execution aligns with customer requirements and internal priorities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively walk the production floor to identify delayed or at-risk work orders; collaborate with leads and technicians to resolve issues in real time. Coordinate closely with Debug, Production, Materials, Quality, and Program Management teams to secure required parts, documentation, or resources. Work with Quality to ensure timely processing of scrap and MRB items that affect work order flow. Review and align data between MES and ERP systems to ensure accurate work order status and closure. Prioritize and escalate the completion of the oldest aging work orders and legacy WIP. Attend and contribute to daily production meetings, providing updates on critical WOs and risk items. Maintain a visible presence in all production areas and act as a communication bridge between departments. Take daily directions from the Director of Manufacturing and Production Manager to expedite orders based on customer commitments and internal objectives. Ensure physical work progress aligns with digital records and drive updates as necessary. Support planning and materials teams in locating missing parts and following up on open actions. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or operations coursework a plus. 2+ years in a production, materials, or EMS environment with direct exposure to work order management. Familiarity with MES and ERP systems (experience with PCMRP or equivalent preferred). Strong organizational and follow-through skills. Excellent verbal communication and cross-functional coordination abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data tracking. Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment.
