Job Description

Job Summary The Production Lead provides day-to-day leadership and direction to Operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role completes equipment setup/changeovers, coordinates workflow, assigns tasks, monitors performance, and serves as the primary point of contact between operator, supervision, and support departments. Production Leads support training and development, reinforce safety and quality standards, assist with troubleshooting and problem solving, and help drive continuous improvement while remaining hands-on in production as needed. Responsibilities Maintain and ensure that team is also maintaining a safe and hazard free environment (wear proper PPE, perform daily stretches at designated times, follow LOTO and safety procedures, report injuries and safety issues in a timely manner). Adhere and train team on company standard operating procedures. Ability to read and comprehend work orders, production tickets, labels, and basic process documentation and follow established procedures. Coordinate with the Production Supervisor on scheduling work orders on different machines and/or workstations. Track work orders and record any updates needed to ensure proper work order production reports. Print out labels (ex. Master label, UPC) and verify raw material quantities before starting production. Coordinate with the warehouse on reporting any shortages of necessary raw materials. Follow work order schedule as directed by Supervisor and ensure all work orders get completed on time by meeting production targets. Operate and monitor equipment as needed, adjusting machine settings within approved limits to ensure quality and efficiency. Perform first-piece and in-process visual inspections of own product to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications. Record production output, downtime, and other required production data accurately on production sheets or in the system. Ensure team is meeting on-spec product quality at all times during production and assist Quality Assurance team with product defects by continuously monitoring the production line for consistent output including temperature, measurements, speed, blades/notching, and labels. Palletize and relocate finished products from machines to inventory to shrink-wrap or other packaging area for final pack out. Ensure that team is reporting daily production in the ERP. Monitor machines during operations to detect any malfunctions and troubleshoot issues using assigned tools if needed to maintain the best production quality. Promptly communicate any maintenance issues or malfunctions to Supervisor and/or Maintenance. Track scrap to determine how much material has been wasted, identifying the issue on the machine and implement corrective actions. Assist in product setup/changeover. Record stops and ends of work orders and report daily production and scrap rates. Propose process and machine improvements to maintain high quality standards. Utilize ERP or production floor software to clock on/off jobs, record quantities, and enter basic production information for efficiency tracking. Ensure that team keeps the machinery and work center area clean after each changeover and at end of shift to ensure that it meets safety and operational standards. Properly handle, store, and dispose of scrap and waste materials according to procedures. Escalate practical matters to management with an understanding of the job responsibilities and knowledge of how it impacts others and the business operations. Cross train team on machinery as needed in order to meet production demands. Work cooperatively with team members and support other operators as needed to keep production flowing. Promote and ensure that team is following Company policies and participate in required company-wide programs and training as directed. Requirements Ability to maintain an attendance level acceptable to Company policies. Excellent time management skills. Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to understand mechanics and technical tasks for assigned equipment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Ability to communicate and interact clearly and effectively with team to provide direction/guidance. Self-starter who is able to work with minimal direction and supervision. Must be flexible with work hours when required. Ability to follow directions. Possess a strong commitment to higher quality and performance. Ability to work well with others and make peers feel safe and valued in the workplace. Demonstrate understanding of job function and ask questions for clarification if needed. Willingness to be trained and train other team members on applicable equipment. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50#. Must be able to sit /stand /walk for full scheduled shift. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required. Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
