This is a repost; previous applicants must reapply to be considered. •The Position is located at the DMV Headquarters•The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Driver Services is to provide executive-level administrative, operational, and strategic leadership for Driver Services and to serve as Chief of Staff to the Director of Driver Services. In this capacity, the position ensures effective coordination and execution of the Division's priorities, modernization initiatives, and cross-functional activities that support the statewide delivery of driver credentialing services. This role functions as a senior advisor and operational integrator for the Director, aligning organizational strategy, operational execution, and performance management across Driver Services. Work involves analyzing operational performance indicators, aligning unit-level objectives with Division and Department goals, resolving complex operational challenges, and advising the Director on organizational planning, operational risk management, legislative and regulatory impacts, and emerging service delivery demands. A critical responsibility of this position is the direct supervision and strategic oversight of the Driver Services Special Operations Unit, which leads modernization, systems integration, credential-issuance workflow design, identity-verification processes, and CDL-compliance initiatives. Managing this unit will require close collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner of Modernization. The position also ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulatory frameworks governing driver credentialing programs, including standards established by
AAMVA, REAL

Salary Grade and Salary Range:
$70,478 - $123,336 Management prefers applicants with the following: Demonstrated ability to design and improve customer experience strategies across in-person and digital channels. Demonstrated leadership and program management directing professional, managerial, and technical staff and coordinating multi-unit operations. Demonstrated ability to quickly understand, driver licensing laws and regulations, identity verification requirements, and compliance standards used to ensure accurate and secure issuance of licenses and IDs. Strong skills in strategic planning, process improvement, and modernization initiatives, including workflow design, systems integration, and oversight of UAT and testing activities. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively—written and verbal—to internal leadership, field operations, IT partners, legislators, and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to mentor staff, manage performance, and navigate sensitive personnel matters. Minimum Education and Experience of Requirement:
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
