SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
To assist in the delivery, training, implementation, and monitoring of the elements of the special education program. Support the instructional leadership of principals, special education director, special education service providers and teachers in best practices for diverse populations.

Executive Director of Exceptional Student Services/Director of Special Education
ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS
Co-facilitate and plan trainings. Attend, observe and provide feedback to building level and district staff regarding special education compliance, department procedures, and best instructional practices. Support District PLC's through researching and modeling appropriate instructional strategies, best practices, department procedures, and coaching practices during staff development, individual conferences, and school level meetings. Assist with using CMAS, NWEA, COALT and other assessment results in the development and refinement of IEP goals and building level services including interventions. Serve as an active member of the Special Education Department by embracing ongoing professional development and training others in implementation. Assist in the long-range planning for curriculum, staff development and coordination of special education processes and procedures for Exceptional Student Services (ESS). Assist with organizing, developing, communicating, updating and conducting trainings in conjunction with District Office personnel including but not limited to; Safety Care and MTSS academic and behavioral systems of support. Provide leadership and support to special education teachers in the areas of curriculum, assessment and instruction. Provide evidence and/or research based demonstration lessons that apply best practices, educational innovations and state standards to new learnings to improve instructional practice of teachers and service providers. Participate in the development and enhancement of a district-wide culture that promotes professional growth and student learning. Establish and demonstrate positive relations with colleagues, parents, and community. Be a resource for buildings as an interface with parents, district resources, and outside community. Provide excellent instruction and communication with an understanding of how to facilitate growth in adults. Comply with District and School policies and procedures while supporting the vision, mission, values and goals of Eagle County School District. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Active special services or teacher certification or license issued by the State of Colorado, or eligibility to obtain upon hire. Experience in special education field, supporting students with disabilities. Specialized courses and training in other areas such as: Autism, behavior management, emotional disabilities, intervention practices and coaching, leadership. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Evidence of ability to embrace and facilitate change.
