Job Description

North Shore Area Partners is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of supporting the independence of seniors living in their own homes. We serve an area that includes Beaver Bay, Silver Bay, Little Marais, Finland and Isabella in Lake County, Minnesota. We coordinate volunteers to provide services such as transportation to medical appointments, friendly visiting and companionship, housekeeping and chores, grocery shopping and meals-on-wheels delivery. Our staff provides care coordination, referrals, educational and social opportunities, caregiver support, and in-home personal care assistance and home health care.
PROGRAM & VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
This is a position for an energetic and outgoing team member to coordinate North Shore Area Partners' (NSAP's) volunteer and community programming. This person will represent NSAP to the public, so they must have a positive and professional demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds. The position requires enthusiasm and creativity to enhance engagement in volunteerism and programming, with a focus on making connections and building relationships throughout the community. Both self-direction and the ability to collaborate on a team are necessary. An ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn new skills and information to enhance personal and organizational success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Volunteer recruitment, coordination, background checking, and training. Programming - creating and implementing community programming, as well as coordinating volunteers for programs when necessary. Oversee Community Room - Manage sign-in sheets, coordinate volunteers and set up activities. Fundraising Marketing assistance/maintaining NSAP social media. Providing backup for the Volunteer Transportation Program and AEOA Reporting tasks. Maintaining the monthly Activities Calendar. Coordinate, attend and report for the AEOA's monthly Finland Meal. Provide backup for front desk/reception area.
Essential Skills:
2+ years' experience working in an office setting. Able to understand verbal and written instructions. Able to achieve results quickly with minimal supervision. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Proficiency with multiple forms of technology, specifically Microsoft Office applications. Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, including respectful listening skills. Must be able to pass a NETStudy 2.0 Background Check.
Desired Qualities:
Experience working with older adults or in a caregiving field. Experience with in-person and online programs. Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude. Flexible team player with the desire and ability to support other staff as needed.
Other Details:
$19/hour 20 hours per week (Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. - 2:00p.m.) with occasional weekend hours for special events (fundraisers, programs, etc.). Matching voluntary retirement plan. Paid vacation and personal time. Must be able to lift 35 lbs. Must have valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
