About JLA Design JLA Design is a growing architecture and engineering consulting firm specializing in residential and light commercial projects throughout Colorado and beyond. Our work includes custom homes, remodels and additions, structural engineering, site and civil coordination, inspections, and specialty projects ranging from mountain cabins to metal building foundations. We are building a highly efficient, systems-driven design firm focused on excellent client communication, practical design solutions, and fast, reliable project delivery.

- Efficiency Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized and technically strong Project Engineer / Project Architect to help lead projects from proposal through permit and construction support.
- Manage 10-15 active residential and light commercial projects simultaneously
- Track schedules, deliverables, client communication, and permit timelines
- Coordinate internal production teams and outside consultants
- Lead project kickoff meetings and ongoing coordination calls
- Help identify and resolve project bottlenecks before they impact schedule Technical Oversight
- Review architectural and/or structural drawing packages for completeness and accuracy
- Coordinate design intent across disciplines
- Perform code review and constructability review
- Assist with engineering calculations, detailing, and design decisions as needed
- Help maintain company drafting and documentation standards Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Conduct final QA/QC reviews prior to permit submittal
- Verify drawing consistency, dimensions, notes, and coordination
- Help improve internal playbooks, standards, and workflows
- Reduce permit comments and revisions through proactive coordination Client & Consultant Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during active projects
- Coordinate with jurisdictions, contractors, surveyors, and consultants
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and design discussions
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and responsiveness Qualifications
Required:
- Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in residential and/or light commercial design
- Strong understanding of construction documents and permitting processes
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple concurrent projects
Preferred:
- Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer (or actively pursuing licensure)
- Experience with Colorado residential construction and permitting
- Familiarity with IRC, IBC, IECC, and local jurisdictional requirements
- Revit and/or SketchUp proficiency
- Experience leading junior staff or production teams Software & Tools
