Job Title:
Project Manager - Commercial and Industrial Construction Job Description This role oversees commercial and industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout in the Wooster, Ohio area. The Project Manager leads project teams, manages budgets and schedules, coordinates subcontractors, administers contracts, and maintains strong client relationships. The position focuses on delivering complex projects safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with local building codes and Ohio market conditions. Responsibilities + Lead commercial and industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring all milestones are met. + Develop, manage, and track project budgets to ensure financial performance and cost control. + Create, maintain, and adjust detailed project schedules to keep work on track and aligned with client expectations. + Administer contracts, including reviewing terms, managing change orders, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. + Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of tasks. + Serve as the primary point of contact for the owner and client, providing clear, consistent communication and updates on project status. + Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively resolving issues that could impact schedule, budget, safety, or quality. + Ensure all work complies with local building codes, regulations, and standards specific to the Ohio market. + Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture across the project team and jobsite. + Monitor and uphold quality standards, ensuring construction means and methods meet project specifications and industry best practices. + Lead, mentor, and support project team members to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment. + Oversee project closeout activities, including punch lists, documentation, and turnover to the client. Essential Skills + 10-15 years of leadership experience in commercial and industrial construction project management. + Proven experience working in a general contractor (GC) environment on commercial construction projects. + Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and risk management. + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with owners and clients and maintain strong professional relationships. + Deep knowledge of construction means and methods for commercial and industrial projects. + Thorough understanding of local building codes and regulations, with specific experience in the Ohio market. + Ability to lead and coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve project goals. + Commitment to safety and quality, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. + Strong cultural fit with a collaborative, accountable, and team-oriented work style. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working within a construction management (CM) delivery model. + Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder construction projects. + Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively mitigate project risks. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal teams and external stakeholders. + Solid organizational skills and attention to detail in managing project documentation and reporting. Work Environment The Project Manager works primarily onsite at active construction projects or in the office, depending on the stage of the project. The typical workweek rarely exceeds 40 hours, supporting a balanced schedule. The role operates in a professional construction management environment that combines field and office work, with regular interaction with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
