We are now seeking an experienced Project Manager / Lead Carpenter who thrives in a high-end remodeling environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding craftsmanship while leading projects with professionalism and accountability. Position Overview The Project Manager / Lead Carpenter is a hybrid leadership role responsible for managing luxury residential remodeling projects while also providing hands-on carpentry expertise in the field when needed. This is not a desk-only project management position. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable coordinating schedules, managing subcontractors, communicating with homeowners, and stepping onto the jobsite to complete detailed finish carpentry work. This role plays a critical part in supporting the company's continued growth by ensuring projects remain on schedule, on budget, and aligned with SJ Janis' high standards for craftsmanship and client experience. The right individual will bring strong construction knowledge, excellent organizational skills, leadership presence, and the ability to think proactively through project sequencing and execution. Key Responsibilities Project Management Manage multiple residential remodeling projects simultaneously from pre-construction through completion Coordinate project schedules, subcontractors, suppliers, and homeowners Maintain consistent communication with clients and provide project updates regularly Ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality expectations Conduct site visits regularly to monitor workmanship, progress, and jobsite organization Collaborate closely with design, production, and field teams throughout the construction process Assist with change orders, project documentation, and problem-solving as issues arise Lead pre-construction meetings and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle Ensure all jobsite safety procedures and company standards are consistently followed Hands-On Carpentry Perform finish carpentry and detailed craftsmanship work as needed Complete cabinet installations, trim work, custom carpentry, and other fine-detail construction tasks Support project completion through self-performed carpentry work when necessary Maintain exceptional standards for fit, finish, and overall workmanship Mentor and collaborate with field crews while leading by example on the jobsite Qualifications 8+ years of experience in residential remodeling, construction management, or high-end carpentry Proven experience in both project management and hands-on carpentry Strong finish carpentry skills, including trim, cabinetry, millwork, and detailed installations Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Strong understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing, and best practices Excellent communication and client relationship skills High level of organization, accountability, and problem-solving ability Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Comfortable using construction management software, scheduling tools, and mobile technology Strong leadership presence with the ability to coordinate subcontractors and trades effectively OSHA safety knowledge and commitment to maintaining safe job sites Valid driver's license and reliable transportation What Success Looks Like Projects are completed with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail Clients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the remodeling process Job schedules are well-coordinated and proactively managed Field operations run efficiently with strong communication between trades, clients, and internal teams The company can continue growing production capacity without sacrificing quality or client experience Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation: $40 - $44 based on experience Vehicle allowance Cell phone allowance Additional allowance for approved vehicle branding/magnet program Health insurance with company contribution toward individual coverage Two weeks of paid vacation are available upon hire Opportunity to work on premier luxury remodeling projects with a highly respected team Why Join SJ Janis?
