Property Restoration Specialist/Caretaker - Historic Homestead Illinois Prairie Properties Cantrall, IL Job Details Part-time | Full-time $28 - $40 an hour 12 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Carpentry Masonry Restoration industry experience Restoration Plumbing Full Job Description We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Property Restoration Specialist/Caretaker to assist with ongoing maintenance, restoration, and improvement of a historic homestead in northern Sangamon County. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who is looking for a steady, low-stress position while staying actively involved in meaningful, hands-on work.
Position Overview:
You will be actively involved in restoration, repairs, and project work alongside a small crew, while also helping guide priorities and keeping projects moving. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys doing the work, solving problems, and occasionally helping coordinate others without the pressure of a formal supervisory position.
Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on work including carpentry, masonry, repairs, and general restoration. Work alongside a small team to complete projects efficiently. Help prioritize and organize ongoing work across the property. Provide practical guidance and share experience with team members. Assist in coordinating outside contractors when needed. Troubleshoot issues and develop common-sense solutions. Maintain the character and integrity of historic structures.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in construction, restoration, or home building. Strong hands-on skills across multiple trades (carpentry, masonry, etc.) Brick masonry experience is a strong plus. Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems. Comfortable taking initiative and working independently. Practical problem-solver with a hands-on mindset.
Compensation:
Hourly pay range of $28 to $40 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.
