Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS) Specialist About Us KidsPeace is a private charity dedicated to supporting the behavioral and mental health needs of children, families, and communities. Since 1882, we have offered psychiatric hospital services, residential treatment programs, accredited educational services, and foster care programs. Position Overview The PRS Specialist is responsible for implementing KidsPeace's Model of Care by providing individualized, hands-on rehabilitation services to children and youth. This role focuses on restoring, supporting, and strengthening daily living skills, community integration, and personal independence through trauma-informed, culturally competent interventions. The PRS Specialist works collaboratively with the treatment team, families, and community partners to help clients achieve goals across domains such as education, employment, housing, and personal well-being.   • A team environment built on collaboration, respect, and compassion Key Responsibilities Apply the KidsPeace Model of Care in designing and delivering services that build developmentally appropriate skills supporting independence and community integration, including employment, housing, education, and daily living.
Implement individualized treatment plans through hands-on services aimed at restoring, rehabilitating, and supporting functioning affected by the child's diagnosis. Establish and strengthen support networks to promote autonomy, including self-care, health and medication management, social skills, interest development, coping strategies, and relapse-prevention skills aligned with treatment goals. Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a rapidly changing professional environment. Exercise sound judgment, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills to meet client and program needs effectively. Provide exceptional customer service , anticipating needs and assisting clients, families, colleagues, community service providers, and visitors. Seek ongoing opportunities to improve service satisfaction. Complete documentation and billing in the client record accurately and within required timeframes. Deliver services across varied settings , including site-based, home, or other community environments, in accordance with state practice laws. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Qualifications 1. Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma, high school equivalency preferred, or a State Education Commencement Credential (e.g. SACC or CDOS); with a minimum of three years' experience in children's mental health, addiction and/or foster care. 2. The PSR Specialist must receive regularly scheduled supervision from a Licensed Behavioral Health Professional operating within the scope of their practice. Supervisors must also be aware of and sensitive to trauma informed care and the cultural needs of the population of focus and how to best meet those needs, and be capable of training staff regarding these issues.
