Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients across diverse settings. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments using ICD-10 coding standards. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and other evidence-based interventions. Prescribe medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. Manage medication administration, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments accordingly to optimize outcomes. Collaborate with primary care providers, therapists, case managers, and specialists in areas such as geriatrics, pediatrics, substance use disorders, and acute care settings like ICU or emergency rooms. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA standards. Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing behavioral health practices. Qualifications Valid certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with current licensure in the practicing state. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including children, seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth or Cerner; experience with telehealth platforms is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of pharmacology related to psychotropic medications and familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes. Critical care experience or hospital medicine background preferred; experience in emergency medicine or Level I Trauma Centers is advantageous. Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to perform physical examinations when necessary. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
