Our client is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Psychiatrist who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Job Description Under broad supervision, provides comprehensive psychiatric and medical healthcare services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions, and providing treatment within a community health program. This role will provide medical and psychiatric coverage for the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. Responsibilities Demonstrate quality care and professional development while completing concurrent documentation and providing billable services at a rate of 65% of paid time. Provide direct clinical care to individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health diagnoses, and dual diagnoses, including psychiatric evaluations, ongoing treatment, medication management, and patient education regarding diagnoses and prescribed medications. Evaluate individuals for appropriate levels of care, including involuntary commitment evaluations, review treatment plans, and participate in clinical staffings. Monitor and document patient condition, response to treatment, progress in treatment, and rationale for medications prescribed. Order and evaluate diagnostic and monitoring laboratory tests as appropriate. Contribute to agency quality standards through coordination and communication with clinical staff, participation in performance improvement activities, and attendance at medical staff meetings as needed. Provide consultation and support to APRN staff as needed and provide backup psychiatric consultation for crises during scheduled working hours via phone or face-to-face intervention. Provide medical and clinical services in specialty programs as assigned, including community-based services and participation in training or preceptorships as assigned. What is our culture? Position Requirements Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) Active Georgia medical license or license-eligible to practice medicine in the state of Georgia Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Psychiatry Minimum of two years of experience in psychiatric practice Experience treating individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions preferred Certification in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine preferred Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week DEA license and ability to prescribe controlled substances as required for MAT services Contract Position Highlights Flexible weekly schedule Competitive hourly compensation Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in community behavioral health services
