Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic Public Works team as a Public Works Technician and be at the forefront of maintaining and improving essential community infrastructure! In this energetic role, you'll perform a variety of tasks that keep our streets, utilities, and public spaces safe, functional, and beautiful. Your hands-on work will directly impact the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. We're looking for motivated individuals eager to operate heavy equipment, assist with construction projects, and contribute to the efficient delivery of public services. - Maintains and repairs streets, curbs, sidewalks and storm sewers including planning and preparation of work zones.
- Maintain street signs, crosswalks, and parking identifiers by straightening, replacing, painting, repairing, or installing.
- Maintain the city tree site safely.
- Perform the upkeep, preventative maintenance, and repair of department vehicles.
- Perform snow removal from city streets, municipal parking lots and alleys during winter; operates sander and applies salt to roadways, sidewalks and municipal parking lots.
- Provide assistance in the repair or replacement of utility mains.
- Radio reading and maintenance of the city's utility meter system.
- Provide assistance in the maintenance and repair of manholes, valves, curb boxes, and other components of the City utilities.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, status, and condition of all utilities, objects, and accesses within the Water & Sewer Departments.
- Monitor and record flows, hours, clean, and maintain all lift stations.
- Monitor and record sewage ponds on a weekly basis.
- Understand the basics of the City's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System and other City maps.
- Maintain the fire hydrants of the City to ensure proper functioning in case of an emergency.
- Basic understanding of chemical treatments for the water & sewer systems of the City.
- Monitor and record hours, levels, and other pertinent data of the City's well system.
- Understand basics of water and sewer sampling with the ability to gain knowledge on performing the task.
- Maintain the foliage of the city included but not limited to mowing and watering trees, grass, and flowers.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, status, and condition of all courts, playground equipment, public buildings, and other amenities of the City facilities.
- Keep all paths clear and in good condition, including the safe routes to school path.
- Pick up litter and empty trash cans.
- Maintaining and upkeep of the public swimming beach.
- Assessing needed signs and notices of parks, docks, and paths.
- Perform routine maintenance and upkeep on the facilities of the city, including but not limited to, the community center, fire hall, parks, and city offices.
- Performs miscellaneous cleaning, maintenance, repair, and other duties as apparent or assigned. Skills

- Ability to acquire and retain knowledge of requirements affecting job responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain harmonious working relationship with City officials, general public, and employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively, maintain excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoys good rapport with the public.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Ability to regularly sit for long periods of time, bend, walk, and occasionally lift 75 pounds of weight.
- Ability to operate heavy and light equipment.
- Ability to prioritize work, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to utilize standard tools and shop equipment.
- Ability to work rotating holidays and weekends as well as respond during off hours for weather and declared emergencies.
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per weekBenefits:
