Job Description

Job Description Purchasing Non-Exempt Full Time Job Summary:
The position is responsible for purchasing raw material, tooling, special services and any additional items needed for production and operating necessities.
Essential Functions:
The primary duties and responsibilities of Purchasing consist of but are not limited to:
  • Source suppliers and products that meet internal and customer quality expectations.
  • Enter new suppliers in JobBoss.
  • Maintain supplier qualification requirements and documentation.
  • Obtain quotations from various suppliers. Compare prices, specifications and delivery dates to determine the best supplier source.
  • Review purchase orders to verify accuracy, specifications and lead times.
  • Monitor and follow up on supplier delivery dates to ensure conformance to schedule requirements.
  • Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries, determine status of late or missed deliveries, resolve order shortages and resolve discrepancies in pricing and product quality issues.
  • Communicate constraints and issues impacting quality and delivery to key stakeholders.
  • Managing the outsourcing of grinding, tumbling and laser marking.
  • Respond to inquiries about order status, changes or cancellations.
  • Communicate order issues to Accounts Payable to ensure that invoices are processed accurately, and order entry is correct.
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of material to ensure internal production schedules and delivery requirements are met.
  • Prepare, maintain and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.
  • All essential functions must be performed in an efficient manner.

  • Ensure purchases are cost effective.
  • Ensure supplier qualification is completed in accordance with QMS requirements.

Job Description Purchasing Non-Exempt Full Time Authorities:
  • Stop processes and shipments due to quality concerns if necessary.
  • Communicate to management issues with product and process conformance.
  • Create, approve and execute purchase orders in accordance with customer defined requirements: o
Raw Material:
Up to $50,000.00 o
Tooling and Special Services:
Up to $10,000.00 o
Other Purchasing:
Up to $5,000.00 o Any orders above these amounts will need prior authorization from the President or Vice President.
Competencies:
  • Understanding of purchasing, production/ inventory control and an understanding of business structures.
  • Understanding of purchasing types and specifications.
  • Proficient use of ERP software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High level of organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.
  • Must demonstrate superb problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • High school diploma (required).
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business or related field (preferred).
  • A bachelor's degree or 10+ years in manufacturing engineering or a related field with a minimum of four years of relevant experience. Background
