Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Clerk to carry out the responsibilities outlined below, along with other related duties as assigned. This role may also provide support in other areas of company operations as needed, based on the individual's skills and qualifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the company vision, objectives, and achieve the required results. Maintain a professional work environment. Work with management on strategies for purchasing ingredients and supplies needed for production and business operations. Learn and provide technical expertise in the area of purchasing. Assure all purchases are completed in a timely manner - ideally 48 hours - and follow-up is done as needed to keep operations running. Understand the importance of processes and routines in order to minimize errors. Be able to generate reports as they relate to purchasing and inventory. Be able to follow verbal or written instructions. Track transactions and communications to ensure timely shipment of orders. Ensure that all necessary paperwork (Certificates of Analysis (CofA), Certificates of Manufacture (CofM), and Allergen Statements) are obtained for products in compliance with FDA regulations and interact with QC Receiving, Inventory Control and the supplier when necessary to obtain this information. Confer with company managers and other staff members necessary to discuss issues, coordinate activities and resolve problems. Plan and work with all other departments in order to ensure continuing operations in relationship to the purchasing function. Document and track quotes on purchases. Understand the financial activity of the Purchasing Department to better understand why certain procedures are in place as it relates to quoting items and making sure all paperwork is in place for Accounts Payable. Represent the company professionally when working with suppliers, customers and employees. Interact with Sales and others responsible for ordering to review current and future purchasing needs. Interact with Inventory Control and QC Receiving to ensure items ordered are what are received. Assist with accurately counting inventory for both finished product and components. Become cross-trained on Fulfillment/Warehouse procedures. Contribute to maintaining cleanliness and order within the MRP complex. Understand the process of tracking supplier liability certificates and supplier questionnaires. Other duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Excellent Communication and Organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Basic Mathematical skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel Exceptional attendance, dependability, punctuality, and professional track record Ability to do physical lifting, walking, and standing on feet for extended periods. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in business management strongly preferred. Two to five years of experience with purchasing activities is preferred. Computer skills are required. Successful experience working with Sr. Management to achieve results. Ability to review quotes and information and make sound decisions for the company in the area of purchasing. Must be able to interact effectively and professionally with employees, customers, suppliers, senior management and support departments. Experience working with FDA's Food, Drug, and Medical Device & Cosmetic regulations is a plus.
