Sun-ThurPOSITION SUMMARY
The QA Technician will work closely with the QA Team and the production staff to help ensure product conformance to specifications, organic standards, food safety, GMP, HACCP, and all applicable industry requirements. The Quality Assurance Technician works independently but alongside the QA Team Lead and must coordinate essential Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions from verification of raw materials and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) through finished product release (includes quality control). - Perform component or product inspection, sampling, analyses following standard methods and procedures, and approval/release. Incorporate or develop new procedures as needed.
- Verify product compliance and alert FSQA Manager of any deviations from specifications.
- May be involved in experiment design and execution. Analysis shows scientific judgment with few errors/omissions.
- QA production line inspection audits, cGMP checks and CCP verification.
- Ensure GMP practices and internal food safety programs are implemented and strictly followed by all staff including, but not limited to, routinely inspecting storage areas and measuring room and product temperatures.
- Enforce QA Hold and Rework procedures for ingredients and finished products.
- Incoming component (raw materials, packaging, etc.), Work-in-progress (WIP), or finished good (FG) inspection, review, testing, release, rejection, and disposition.
- Occasionally inspect incoming produce and packaging components upon receipt according to internal specifications. The inspection process includes measuring temperature and sensory evaluation (flavor, taste, color, texture etc.)
- Verify that the process and quality controls at all points of the food manufacturing workflow are performed and recorded on time.
- Alongside the QA Team lean, maintain QA documentation and records - both physical and electronic.
- Sample and maintain QA retention samples.
- Conduct in-house QA analyses including laboratory tests via official methods, sensory (taste/smell), visual, etc. as needed for components, products, complaint resolution, etc.
- Obtain and prepare samples as required for third party labs.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of food production, quality assurance or similar experience
- Must have a good understanding of food quality, GMPs and a broad knowledge of fresh produce
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Detail oriented, diligent, able to multi-task and communicative
POSITION-SPECIFIC SKILLS
- Good communication skills in Spanish and English.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED
- The ideal candidate has cGMP, HACCP or similar training
- Experience working in a Lean Enterprise/Continuous Improvement environment is a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position works in a production environment with extended periods of standing and walking. This position may spend time in a dangerous production and warehouse environment and may be exposed to extreme temperatures and loud noises. Will be required to come in during weekends and work overtime if necessary.EXPECTATIONS & DEVELOPMENT
