Job Title:
Quality Control Manager Job Description The Quality Control Manager oversees all aspects of construction quality on federal projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and project schedules. This role coordinates closely with project management, subcontractors, and testing agencies to maintain high-quality workmanship, accurate documentation, and timely completion of work. The position requires a hands-on leader who can work on site, make sound decisions under pressure, and proactively identify and resolve quality and safety issues. Responsibilities Communicate regularly with the project manager to provide quality control updates and advise on issues or problems that may affect project progress. Coordinate, oversee, and review the work of outside testing agencies to ensure proper techniques, documentation, and full contract compliance. Provide oversight of subcontractor submittals and manage the submittal register to ensure timely review and adherence to specifications. Order, receive, and track materials and equipment needed for the project, ensuring they meet approved submittal requirements. Coordinate and administer weekly safety meetings and identify safety meeting topics that relate directly to quality control. Monitor quality and safety practices on a daily basis and perform ongoing inspections to minimize rework, corrections, and punch-list items. Exercise delegated authority to stop work when unsafe practices or conditions are identified, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Provide direction to the project engineer and maintain focus on critical path activities to support the overall project schedule. Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance with respect to timeliness, efficiency, and quality of work and materials. Review deliveries for timeliness and accuracy, confirming that all materials match approved submittals and project requirements. Complete detailed daily reports covering inventory, ongoing and completed work items, weather conditions, quality issues, safety issues, and site visitors. Provide weekly updates for "as-built" conditions and ensure continual maintenance of safety logs and quality documentation. Develop and maintain a comprehensive punch-list prior to requesting a "Substantial Completion" certificate, and coordinate with the superintendent and subcontractors to complete punch-list items. Represent the company during testing of alarm systems, mechanical systems, and other equipment, ensuring tests meet project and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with project management to ensure all project close-out documents are accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner. Use project management software and tools, including Procore and RMS, to document, track, and report on quality control activities. Essential Skills 10+ years of proven experience in Quality Control Management, preferably on construction projects. CurrentUSACE/NAVFAC
Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification. Experience with federal construction projects and understanding of applicable standards and regulations. Hands-on quality control experience with USACE and NAVFAC projects. Proficiency with project management and quality control platforms such as Procore and RMS. Clear demonstration of strong job knowledge based on work experience and the ability to make timely decisions using sound and accurate judgment. Ability to identify problems, gather and analyze information, and make appropriate recommendations to support project success. Capability to meet established goals while ensuring high-quality work through accuracy and thoroughness. Competence in taking independent actions and calculated risks while seeking guidance when appropriate. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently, remain flexible, and maintain attention to detail to meet project deadlines and schedules. Ability to work effectively in group problem-solving situations and collaborate with diverse project teams. Working knowledge of computers and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and project management software. Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity on a regular, daily basis. Ability to stand, climb, bend, and stoop on a regular, daily basis to perform inspections and oversee work. Valid driver's license and ability to operate a personal vehicle for work-related travel. Effective use of visual and auditory skills to inspect work, review documents, and communicate on site. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a similar field is preferred. Demonstrated experience with federal construction projects is required. Familiarity with USACE and NAVFAC processes, standards, and reporting requirements. Experience managing quality control programs on complex, schedule-driven construction projects. Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and testing agencies. Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, documenting issues, and leading meetings. Proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement in quality and safety. Work Environment This role is based on site at a federal installation and requires a consistent field presence. The Quality Control Manager typically works 40-55 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the potential for Saturday work depending on project needs. The position involves daily outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, and humidity. The role requires frequent standing, climbing, bending, and stooping to perform inspections and oversee work in active construction areas. The work environment is fast-paced and schedule-driven, with regular interaction with project management, subcontractors, and testing agencies. Standard office tools, Microsoft Office, and project management platforms such as Procore and RMS are used for documentation, reporting, and coordination. Appropriate field attire and personal protective equipment are required to safely perform duties in an active construction environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of White Hall, AR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
