About the Role We're hiring a Quality Control Technician (Asphalt) to ensure the quality and consistency of asphalt products through field and plant testing, documentation, and communication with production teams and state agencies. This role is based in Adrian, Michigan , with travel to job sites and plants as needed. What You'll Do Collect and test asphalt samples in accordance with MDOT testing schedules Ensure materials meet required quality standards and specifications Maintain accurate records and documentation of testing results Notify Quality Control leadership of any quality issues or irregularities Submit testing documentation to state agencies for assigned projects Communicate with state agencies and internal teams on a regular basis Support troubleshooting and recommend adjustments to improve product quality Follow all safety protocols and company procedures Travel to job sites and plants as required Maintain regular in‑person attendance Perform additional duties as assigned Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance Ability to safely access and navigate plants and job sites, including climbing ladders Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting Willingness to work outside normal business hours as needed What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Strong math skills, including weights and measurements Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment Prior quality control experience in construction or manufacturing preferred MDOT Aggregate Levels 1 and 2 knowledge preferred
MDOT HMA QC/QA
