Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer is responsible for addressing quality concerns from clients or suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and implementing process improvements. This role involves daily reporting and root cause analysis through client portals, supporting Advanced Product Quality Planning activities, and promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Lead and facilitate Quick Response Quality Control activities to address quality issues promptly. Utilize root cause analysis tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, Ishikawa, 8D, and A3 to identify and rectify systemic issues. Manage internal and external non-conformance, including issuing and responding to 8D reports and customer complaints. Support APQP activities for new product launches and changes. Ensure compliance with IATF, customer-specific requirements, and internal procedures. Analyze quality data from production and customer feedback to improve product quality and process reliability. Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements. Conduct internal and layered process audits, addressing non-conformities. Support PPAP submissions and documentation as per customer requirements. Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement on the production floor. Participate in FMEA and Control Plan development. Provide training and coaching on quality tools, methodologies, and problem-solving techniques. Drive quality initiatives by actively engaging on the production floor, setting an example in structured problem-solving, and championing accountability and operational excellence. Lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and driving corrective actions. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline or 5+ years in an automotive quality engineer role. 3+ years of experience in a quality role within a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment. Strong understanding and hands-on experience with quality methodologies. Proficient in root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc. Working knowledge of IATF, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA. Experience with customer-specific quality systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with quality management software is a plus. Preferred Tier 1 automotive experience with Honda, Subaru, or Chrysler. Work Environment The role operates within a manufacturing environment that includes roll forming processes and plastic molding. The position requires working closely with operators on the floor to solve issues, emphasizing hands-on problem-solving rather than office-based tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelbyville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
