Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer will lead root cause investigations, drive corrective and preventive actions, and support continuous improvement within a fast-paced food, flavor, and fragrance manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with production, process engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues, maintain and improve the Quality Management System, and ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards. Responsibilities Investigate and close Quality Notifications (QNs) in a timely, thorough, and well-documented manner. Perform trend analysis on production and quality data to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement. Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA. Develop, implement, and monitor effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address quality issues and prevent recurrence. Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve process capability. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, data, and evidence of compliance with quality standards and procedures. Assist in maintaining, updating, and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to align with best practices and regulatory requirements. Generate clear and insightful reports and dashboards to communicate quality metrics, trends, and progress to stakeholders. Contribute to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and waste reduction. Ensure quality requirements are understood and followed across relevant operations in the food, flavor, and fragrance production environment. Essential Skills Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer leading root cause analysis in a manufacturing environment. Proven expertise in root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA. Hands-on experience developing, implementing, and managing CAPAs. Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS). Ability to perform data and trend analysis on production and quality metrics. Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and supply chain. Proficiency with SAP or similar enterprise systems for quality or production data. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application to quality and process improvement. Bachelor's degree (BA) in Engineering or a closely related technical field. Strong written and verbal communication skills to document findings and present quality metrics. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in the food, flavor, or fragrance industry or other regulated manufacturing environments. Familiarity with quality standards and audit processes in manufacturing settings. Ability to create and maintain dashboards and visual reports for quality performance. Demonstrated ability to work independently as the primary Quality Engineer while partnering closely with a broader quality team. Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on problem-solving and prevention. Comfort working with flavor and fragrance production processes and related quality requirements. Work Environment This role is based fully onsite in a manufacturing facility within the food, flavor, and fragrance industry. You will work as part of a quality team of approximately 20 people and serve as the primary Quality Engineer, partnering closely with process engineering and production teams on the plant floor. The schedule is onsite five days per week with flexibility in start time, typically beginning around 7:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m., depending on business and personal needs. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, with frequent interaction across operations, engineering, and supply chain. Standard manufacturing safety practices and appropriate attire for a production and quality setting are required. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Cranbury, NJ.
