Job Description
Taconic is a global leader in the PTFE coated glass industry, renowned for delivering high-quality fabrics, tapes, and belts for demanding applications since 1961. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring product and process quality across Taconic's manufacturing operations. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement, maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal standards, and supporting manufacturing, engineering, and R&D teams. The Quality Engineer will lead investigations, implement corrective and preventive actions, analyze data, and support quality system audits and documentation. Duties Lead and support quality system initiatives to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards. Investigate and resolve quality issues, including customer complaints, process deviations, and nonconformances, using root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods. Develop, implement, and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence of quality issues. Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to manufacturing processes, product performance, and quality metrics. Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and R&D to implement process improvements, optimize yields, and reduce scrap. Maintain quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and test methods. Support internal and external audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up activities. Provide technical guidance and training to production, engineering, and quality personnel on quality requirements and best practices. Occasional Duties Serve as acting Quality Manager in their absence. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement teams. Support supplier quality programs, including qualifications, audits, and performance monitoring. Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager to meet organizational goals. Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Industrial) or equivalent experience, with three years of quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably with
ISO 9001
exposure. Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including root cause analysis, statistical process control (SPC), FMEA, and continuous improvement techniques. Experience with customer and regulatory standards, including IPC, UL, or similar certifications, is a plus. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and lead projects effectively. Must have strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency using Microsoft Office. Experience with quality management software or databases is desirable.Pay:
$85,000.00- $95,000.
