POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer focuses on continuous improvement, implementing Quality Management program, plans, policies and procedures, implementing lean principles, and ensuring a company-wide commitment to quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, assignments, and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of executive management. Works directly with Operations, Engineering, Customer Service, Purchasing and Sales team to develop and validate quality processes and procedures designed to meet customer requirements and on time delivery. Leads continuous improvement projects to achieve quality objectives and metrics targets. Assists the Quality Manager in the development, implementation, communication, and maintenance of the quality program to make the Company's Quality Management System and Policies (ISO 9001) complaint. Works with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service and Sales teams to ensure systems are implemented, maintained and effective. Works with Purchasing and the supply chain to establish, implement and audit quality requirements for external suppliers. Manages and maintains quality inspection and product release programs. Supports Quality inspection and testing of manufactured components and final assemblies for conformance to design and configuration requirements. Works with and supports the Quality Manager in the development of Quality compliance objectives and ensure that targets are achieved and results reported. Assesses the product specifications of the company and its suppliers and compare with customer requirements. Writes quality procedures and provides training to the organization on the use of the quality procedures. Liaisons with our customers' quality team and internal and external auditors. Ensures the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers' specifications. Ability to support Sales on customer visits, installation and troubleshooting pump installations. Other job duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in engineering; required, Mechanical Engineering; preferred 4+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in industrial equipment manufacturing Experience with
ISO 9001
; required Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience; preferred MS Office Suite; required Experience with 8Ds, corrective action, and preventive action programs; preferred Experience with implementing a Quality Management System and supporting procedures, preferred Experience with quality management across multiple locations and facilities, preferred ASQ Certification (Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate); preferred Pump, Foundry or rotating equipment industry-specific experience; preferred Ability to Travel 25% of the time
