Job Title:
Level III Mechanical Quality Inspector Job Description The Level III Mechanical Quality Inspector serves in a senior technical and leadership capacity, performing advanced mechanical inspections, interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T, and ensuring strict adherence to customer and engineering requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining and enhancing theISO 9001
2015 Quality Management System, driving continuous improvement, and safeguarding product quality and traceability across the manufacturing process. Responsibilities Perform complex first article (FAIR), in-process, final, and receiving inspections on machined and fabricated components. Interpret and validate compliance of parts and assemblies to complex engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Apply advanced GD&T principles to verify the form, fit, and function of precision mechanical components. Inspect complex geometries using advanced metrology methods, including CMM and FARO programming and execution. Develop robust inspection strategies for tight-tolerance and high-risk features to ensure consistent product quality. Perform and support weld inspections in accordance with AWS and other applicable standards. Review and redline drawings and travelers to improve clarity, manufacturability, and inspection effectiveness. Ensure compliance withISO 9001
2015 requirements, including monitoring and measuring resources, in-process controls, identification, traceability, and release of products and services. Control nonconforming outputs by identifying issues, segregating product when required, and supporting appropriate disposition processes. Lead and participate in internal audits to verify process adherence, identify gaps, and support corrective actions. Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and conduct or assist with root cause analysis for quality issues. Maintain and improve inspection records, FAIR documentation, and traceability systems to ensure full product history and compliance. Assist in the creation and revision of Work Instructions (WI) and Operational Method Sheets (OMS) to standardize inspection and quality processes. Support calibration and traceability activities for monitoring and measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance. Operate and program optical comparators, CMM, and FARO equipment for detailed dimensional verification. Perform in-process, receiving, and production inspections to ensure quality at all stages of manufacturing. Program and operate laser part engraving equipment to support part identification and traceability requirements. Prepare, submit, and validate FAIRs in accordance with customer and internal requirements. Participate in improvement teams and quality initiatives aimed at enhancing processes, reducing defects, and strengthening the QMS. Provide leadership and mentorship to other inspectors and team members, sharing technical expertise and best practices. Communicate effectively across departments to resolve quality issues, clarify requirements, and support on-time delivery. Exercise strong judgment and decision-making in quality acceptance, ensuring both compliance and practicality. Use computer systems and software tools for data analysis, documentation, and quality system management. Essential Skills Proficiency in all standard hand measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, and bore gages. Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills and proven experience in mechanical inspection execution. Demonstrated experience performing FAIR inspections and preparing FAIR reports. Knowledge of RMA processes, traceability requirements, and part marking practices. Hands-on experience with optical comparator operation and programming. Experience with CMM and FARO operation for dimensional inspection of complex geometries. Experience performing in-process, receiving, and production inspections in a manufacturing environment. Intermediate-level GD&T skills with demonstrated application in inspection activities. Working knowledge ofISO 9001
quality systems and their practical implementation. Advanced GD&T skills with demonstrated technical expertise in metrology and complex feature verification. Advanced CMM and FARO programming skills and experience developing inspection strategies. Experience with internal auditing in anISO 9001
environment. Experience supporting calibration and traceability programs for measuring equipment. Ability to redline drawings and travelers to improve clarity and manufacturability. Ability to assist in the creation and maintenance of Work Instructions (WI) and Operational Method Sheets (OMS). Experience with laser part engraving, including programming for identification and traceability. Experience with FAIR submission and validation in line with customer and internal requirements. Strong computer skills for data analysis, documentation, and use of quality systems. Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities within a quality or inspection team. Strong judgment and decision-making skills related to quality acceptance and nonconforming product. Strong planning, organization, and documentation discipline. Effective communication skills across departments and functions. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and ISO compliance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Participation in cross-functional improvement teams and quality initiatives. Experience working in high-tech or precision manufacturing environments. Comfort working with both manual and automated inspection equipment in a cleanroom setting. Ability to adapt to evolving inspection methods, technologies, and quality system enhancements. Work Environment The role is based in a positive-pressure, HEPA-filtered cleanroom environment within an ISO-certified facility. Team members conform to all gowning procedures and present a professional image in alignment with company appearance standards. The adjacent manufacturing areas may include some noise and plastic chips, and safety glasses are recommended outside of designated safety corridors, with hearing protection recommended near machinery. The position requires adherence to all company safety practices and procedures, the ability to stand at a workstation for the designated shift, and the ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds. systems, and optical comparators, supporting a high-tech, clean, and safety-conscious production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tigard, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
