(www.smartproducts.com) uses the latest in injection molding technology to manufacture many of the components that go into our check valves and pumps. To maintain the highest quality standards in our products we measure and test the quality of the raw materials we mold into parts, the parts themselves and components we purchase. In addition, we perform in-process audits and final inspections of our assembled valves and pumps. We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician to join the Smart Products USA team at our manufacturing facility in Mills River, NC . The Quality Technician performs a key role in helping Smart Products USA maintain the highest level of quality control throughout our manufacturing process. The Quality Technician's responsibilities include performing first article inspections on purchased materials/ components and in house manufactured plastic injection parts, building sample parts, testing, final inspections, researching cases, and MRP related input. The successful Quality Technician candidate will possess the following: High School and/or Technical School graduate Technical courses in quality, plastics, molding or other related courses are highly desirable Four years' quality experience preferred Must be able to communicate clearly in English including the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; the ability to write simple correspondence; the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume as well as the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Technician will be responsible for the following: Perform Molding First Articles and In-process Inspection and monitor molded parts against prints, accepting or rejecting parts as necessary to ensure quality and compliance with specifications Ensure all incoming parts are inspected and received and (packing slips) match PO, forwarding closed PO to accounting after proper matching Visually inspect all molded parts following MAT-04 procedure, looking for defects and cosmetic issues Interpret engineering drawings and specifications and confer with Quality Supervisor to determine quality and reliability standards Select products for tests at specified stages in production and receiving process, and test products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics Record test data, applying established quality assurance procedures Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability Sets up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics as directed by Quality Engineer Assist Quality Supervisor with ensuring test equipment is calibrated and operational Take on additional responsibilities as assigned In return, Smart Products USA offers an excellent starting hourly rate of pay, a comprehensive benefits package, bonus potential, and the opportunity to shine in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
