Description Ellwood Crankshaft and Machine is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECG's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. ECG services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets. Sharon Forge is currently hiring for a Quality Tech I. The Quality Tech I position is a non-exempt, full-time opportunity that may work a 4-on 4-off schedule working 12-hour shifts or may work day, afternoon, night, or rotating shifts as dictated by business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough understanding of manufacturing and manufacturing processes Prior Quality Assurance experience a plus Thorough understanding of tools and fixturing Ability to use and accurately read measuring instruments Working knowledge of ISO Quality system Strong math skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GDT Working knowledge of various machine tools and processes Ability to layout parts manually Ability to work well with a team while also working independently Good written and verbal communication skills Computer skills a plusRESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
Perform final inspection of crankshafts or other parts to verify conformance to drawings and specifications through manual measurement and FARO scanning. Perform in-process inspections throughout various stages of the manufacturing process. Communicate non-conformances to operators and provide completed documentation to Quality Control Manager Provide feedback to employees on rework issues and opportunities for improvement based on inspection results Be a resource to employees in supporting layout questions, in-process verification and troubleshooting any quality issues Calibrate and verify measuring tools Enter inspection results and other verification data into Syteline computer system Accurately and legibly complete all necessary paperwork Engage with operators in pro-active manner to help support and promote quality objectives Support Zero Defect efforts Cross train in other areas as needed to support production and/or quality efforts with a preference given to candidates willing to pursue NDT qualification Adhere to inspection procedures including following proper steps for product release Participate in special projects or continuous improvement activities Perform other duties as deemed necessary Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
