Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our team in the role of Intern. This position will work a flexible schedule during our normal business hours, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, hours per day will vary. Candidates should be comfortable working in an hybrid environment with onsite work happening across the Indianapolis Metro Region including Fishers, Avon and Carmel. As an intern within this department, you will gain exposure to key safety metrics and initiatives that drive quality improvement across the organization. A core focus includes monitoring and reducing common healthcare-associated risks such as: CLABSI (Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections) CAUTI (Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections) SSI (Surgical Site Infections) Hand hygiene compliance In addition to learning how these safety indicators are tracked and improved, interns will explore how patients and families play a critical role in identifying potential safety concerns. The internship emphasizes collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and proactive strategies that empower both care teams and patients to maintain a culture of safety. Through this experience, interns will develop a deeper understanding of healthcare quality standards, patient safety practices, and the ongoing efforts required to ensure safe, high-quality care for every patient. Candidate Qualifications Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies. Requires current enrollment in an Associate's, Bachelor's, and/or Master's Degree Program. Candidates with majors in the Health Sciences, Business, Sustainability and Administration are preferred. Candidates pursuing degrees in a healthcare related field are preferred. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including comfort with Excel-based modeling. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and professionally. Interest in healthcare delivery, real estate strategy, and large-scale capital planning. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
