Elective Courses Lecturer Pool Position overview Position title: Rachel Carson College Elective Courses Pre-six Lecturer Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach the standard five-credit course is $8,872- $15,104 (based on salary points 1-19).

Position Description The Rachel Carson College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach in its non-core undergraduate courses, especially in the areas of sustainability studies. The theme of the College is Environment and Society (see Rachel Carson College website and most of these classes focus on one aspect or another of social and ecological sustainability. These courses are interactive, involving both classroom instruction and hands-on experiential learning. Ideal candidates may have experience with experiential field or community-based learning (e.g., agriculture, permaculture, water issues, design, renewable energy) and/or interdisciplinary knowledge and frameworks that address systemic inequities and environmental histories that center justice and diverse ways of knowing or systems thinking as tools for transformative change, following in the legacy of Rachel Carson. Strong candidates will also demonstrate a commitment to mentoring enthusiastic and engaged students from a breadth of different backgrounds. Selected candidates must be able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social, cultural, and academic backgrounds. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties. degree with a minimum of three years' professional and/or teaching experience in areas related to sustainability studies (e.g., sustainable agriculture/food systems, climate change and adaptation, Indigenous and local knowledge and stewardship, and renewable energy and zero-waste systems). Equivalent foreign degrees are applicable. Your application must demonstrate that you meet all of the basic qualifications when you submit your application .
