The Department of State Hospitals-Atascadero is a secure public sector hospital providing inpatient forensic services for mentally ill adult males who are court committed throughout the State of California. The Radiologic Technologist (Safety) will be directed by the Chief of Primary Care or their designee in the Central Medical Services Department at the Department of State Hospitals

• Atascadero (ASH).

The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to: Performs radiographic exams, processes and manages x-ray image data. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing x-ray examination, including observation of the patient's reactions during their examination. Applies and demonstrates knowledge of correct methods in Therapeutic Strategies and Interventions (TSI). Assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment through response to physical assaults, escape attempts or other major patient disturbance, and assist in the management of the conduct of patients. Overseeing the safety of patient escorts and other coworkers. Maintains records and prepares reports as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Possession of a current valid certificate as a Certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the California State Department of Health Services. ( Applicants who are in the process of securing such certification will be admitted to the examination but must possess the certificate before they will be considered eligible for appointment. ) AND Either Two years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods, under an accredited medical radiologist. ( Successful completion of the work required for a graduate nurse may be substituted for one year of this required experience and training. ) Or II Successful completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology.
