Nylen Cancer Center Hours:
PRN (As Needed) •This position will be required, when applicable, to participate in an on-call rotation outside of business hours based on department needs and must be able to work some weekends and holidays. Under the direction of the Radiologist the Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic X-ray exams, based on department needs, and provides compassionate direct patient care with an emphasis on maintaining organizational values and standards of behavior as well as operating diagnostic X-ray equipment to produce diagnostic images of designated portions of the body. Responsibilities Completes a variety of high quality, patient-centered diagnostic X-ray exams on all age ranges (neonatal - elderly) and in varying locations throughout the hospital (based on department needs) in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care. Cleans departmental equipment and verifies all safety/health regulations and policies are met. Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of organ/bone/vasculature cross sectional anatomy. Communicates with departmental management team as necessary when problems or unusual circumstances arise and documents as necessary. Orders and assures adequate supplies are available and utilized in a cost-effective manner. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner. Performs care and light maintenance of the various Diagnostic Imaging equipment. This includes testing and inspection (quality assurance) of the equipment for accurate usage, performance and can assess equipment problems. Understands and adheres to all safety practices (ALARA) while performing duties to minimize any risk of injury and/or exposure to unnecessary ionizing radiation.
Qualifications Education :
Graduation of Radiology program accredited through the American Registry of Radiologic Technology approved by
IDPH Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of adult, pediatric, neonatal, and fetal physiology and anatomy. Ability to recognize normal and abnormal findings. Demonstration of compassionate patient care. Demonstration of effective communication and interpersonal skills. License(s)/Certification(s): American Registry of Radiology Technologist Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice Current
CPR/BCLS
