NO RELOCATION
Position Overview We are looking for a skilled equine professional or experienced horseman to oversee all horse-related operations on a private, working ranch located in Meeker, Colorado. This full-time, year-round position is ideal for someone who is passionate about horsemanship, responsible land use, and embracing a remote ranch environment. Primary Duties Ranch Operations Management Supervise daily ranch functions, including upkeep of land, facilities, and infrastructure Perform regular property evaluations to maintain high standards Organize and oversee maintenance and repairs for buildings, fencing, roads, and ranch equipment Land & Animal Care Manage pasture usage, grazing schedules, irrigation systems, and overall land practices Ensure proper care of livestock, including feeding programs, health oversight, and breeding coordination when necessary Collaborate with veterinarians, farriers, and other agricultural professionals Team Leadership Recruit, train, and supervise ranch personnel Assign daily responsibilities and monitor productivity Foster a safe, efficient, and team-oriented work environment Equipment & Supply Coordination Operate and maintain ranch vehicles and machinery (tractors, trucks, tools, etc.) Monitor inventory levels of feed, equipment, and supplies Handle purchasing needs and maintain vendor relationships Administrative Responsibilities Support budgeting efforts and track operational expenses Maintain accurate records for livestock, land use, and maintenance activities Ensure adherence to applicable regulations at the local, state, and federal levels Property Security & Environmental Stewardship Oversee ranch access and general security Implement responsible land management and conservation practices Address urgent situations such as severe weather, fire risks, or animal health concerns Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience in ranch operations, agriculture, or similar fields Strong understanding of livestock handling, land management, and equipment use Proven leadership and staff management abilities Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving skills for equipment issues Experience with budgeting and operational recordkeeping Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience with irrigation and water systems Skills in fencing, welding, or general construction Familiarity with sustainable or regenerative agriculture methods Ability to safely operate heavy equipment Work Environment Majority of work performed outdoors in diverse weather conditions Physically intensive tasks, including lifting, walking, and machinery operation Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Compensation & Benefits Annual salary ranging from $55,000 to $70,000, based on experience Potential additional benefits such as use of a vehicle, utilities, and performance-based incentives This role requires a motivated individual who is eager to lead operational activities on a rural ranch environment. Candidates should be prepared to engage in physically demanding tasks while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of agricultural practices.
