Job Description

Real Estate Title Attorney Turnkey Title, LLC — Morgantown, West Virginia Hybrid/Full-Time About Us Turnkey Title, LLC is a Morgantown-based real estate law firm providing title examination, commitment issuance, deed drafting, and closing services throughout north central West Virginia. We work closely with national underwriters to deliver accurate, efficient title services to lenders, buyers, sellers, and real estate professionals. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Title Attorney to join our team. The successful candidate will review title abstracts, examine and issue title commitments and policies, and perform title curative work on residential and commercial real estate transactions. This is a substantive role for an attorney who enjoys the technical side of title work and wants to be a key contributor in a growing firm. Key Responsibilities Examine title abstracts and chain-of-title materials to identify defects, encumbrances, and other matters affecting marketability and insurability Prepare and issue title insurance commitments and policies in accordance with underwriter guidelines Identify, analyze, and resolve title defects through curative work, including review and drafting of corrective instruments, affidavits, releases, and related documents Communicate with underwriting counsel on complex insurability questions and coverage determinations Coordinate with closing staff, lenders, real estate agents, and opposing counsel on title-related matters Review survey, judgment, lien, tax, and bankruptcy search results and determine appropriate treatment as exceptions or requirements Maintain compliance with West Virginia statutes, the West Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct, and underwriter standards
Qualifications Required:
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school Active license to practice law in West Virginia, in good standing (or eligibility for admission by motion or examination, with admission to be obtained promptly) 5-10 years of experience in title examination, title insurance, and real estate law Demonstrated experience handling title curative matters Strong working knowledge of West Virginia real property law, recording statutes, and common title defects
Preferred:
Prior experience working with national title underwriters Familiarity with Qualia or comparable title production platforms Experience with both residential and commercial transactions Familiarity with CertifID or similar wire fraud prevention tools
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
Commensurate with experience
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
