Duties Help The primary purpose of this position is to observe swimming area to ensure safety of prons. Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of prons. Ensures the swimming area is open to prons scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough wer or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working pools, may opere wer pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool wer meets specified standards. Ensures th diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose mting, and th necessary repairs are made. May perform other reled or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operion of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bh houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbhing areas, etc. Performs other reled duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience:

For pool and aquic center lifeguards: Must have an approved and current nionally recognized certificion in lifesaving and wer rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.

For coastal lifeguards:

In addition to the above, must also have surf rescue techniques training. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Sisfactory completion of installion records checks, ste and nional criminal background checks may be required for positions th provide lifesaving duties for children. Must be able to sisfactorily complete a Nional Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must be available to work non-regular shifts to include evenings and weekends. Must have Hepitis B immunizion.
