Job Description

This position will be primarily assigned to the Nancy Hanson Recreation Complex (approximately 98% of scheduled work time) and is expected to work Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. SUMMARY -Responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating programs; supervising activities and personnel; coordinating leagues; handling financial transactions; ensuring proper facility use; managing records; and developing program activities assisting in the development, planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing of multiple recreational and special event activities for all age groups. Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Director or designee in accordance with established methods, schedules, and procedures. Considerable independent initiative and judgment is exercised in meeting specific program objectives. This is a full-time position, which requires the ability to work flexible hours and weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes general duties such as opening/closing facilities, coordinating/leading programs, discussing community needs, ensuring safety, maintaining cleanliness, managing basic financial transactions, training subordinates, supervising special events and performing office duties. Assist in coordinating various recreational programs; assist in organizing activities; scheduling, setting up, breaking down events; and onboarding support staff and volunteers. Discusses and makes inquiries into the interests, needs, and desires of individuals to determine how the City can best meet their needs. Meets with organized groups, individuals or other interested parties to provide information, determine community-wide program needs and interests, and formulate new activities, programs, and events. While performing these duties, the individual will strive to promote community participation and satisfaction with City events. Ensures the administration of safety precautions and procedures. Renders non-emergency First Aid, as needed. Assists in the care, maintenance and general cleanliness of City facilities/equipment to include cleaning, reporting maintenance issues, and conducting periodic inventory/inspections to ensure City equipment and property are in good condition. Must report incidents to the manager immediately and complete incident and damage reports/investigations in a timely manner. Performs general office duties by keeping records, preparing reports, answering the telephone and dispensing general information as needed. EXPERIENCE
- Requires a High School Diploma/GED and minimum 1 year of experience. Previous customer service experience and Microsoft Office Suite familiarity. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with local recreation programs/facilities, current industry trends, recreation or POS software.

- Oversees recreational program volunteers and employees as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Physical Requirements:
Ability to operate motor vehicles, machinery, and office equipment. Able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount constantly. Light Work involves significant walking or standing.

Ability to use office and athletic equipment accurately.

Ability to handle office equipment and hand tools.

Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
