Job Description

Job Title:
Recreation/Respite Manager (salaried position)
Reports To:
Assistant Director Overall Purpose of Job:
Responsible for overseeing Recreation and Respite departments. Provides oversight to ensure that both services have enriching curriculums and that the staff providing the support adhere to the agency mission, values and policies. Directly supervises Recreation/Respite Assistant, as well as direct support staff that participate in the programs. Remains in compliance - both State compliance as well as agency compliance - regarding required in-service training classes; updates annually or bi-annually. Roles and Responsibilities:
Recreation Services Creates and circulates quarterly recreation calendars that enrich the social lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and oversees the sign-up process Plans a one-day trip and one weekend trip per year Manages a Travel Club within the agency and schedules meetings regularly Ensures that all new individuals complete an intake form and that this form is updated annually or as needed. All attached plans and guidelines will be kept on file and will be used for staff training purposes. Ensures that all necessary medical, behavioral and therapy documentation is on file for all services Ensures all supplies are ordered or purchased in support of quarterly events Secures necessary event tickets and/or facilities in support of quarterly events Orients and trains employees Attends all Tuxis-driven events, while also securing adequate staffing Attends all events to ensure that there is proper supervision Coordinates transportation and/or 1:1 supports as requested Ensures that all incidents (accidents, illnesses, behaviors, etc.) are properly documented and reported to appropriate contacts and ensures that the DDS 255 Incident Reporting Process is completed in an accurate and timely manner Follows-up on issues or concerns with family members as needed Receives all registration information and keeps documentation of attendance Ensures that all money is collected, recorded, and deposited Keeps a spreadsheet of the balances or refunds due by event or club activity Ensures vendors are paid Provides a monthly accounting of the recreation account to the Finance Manager for review Respite Services Creates Respite and Fee for Services Opportunities that enrich the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and oversees the sign-up process Markets program and secures a minimum of one respite weekend per quarter Ensures that all new individuals complete an intake form and that this form is updated annually or as needed. All attached plans and guidelines will be kept on file and will be used for staff training purposes. Ensures that all necessary medical, behavioral and therapy documentation is on file for all services Orients and trains employees Ensures that all services have proper supervision and staffing Coordinates transportation and/or 1:1 supports as requested Ensures that all incidents (accidents, illnesses, behaviors, etc.) are properly documented and reported to appropriate contacts and ensures that the DDS 255 Incident Reporting Process is completed in an accurate and timely manner Follows-up on issues or concerns with family members as needed Receives all registration information and keeps documentation of attendance and daily logs Ensures that all money is collected, recorded, and deposited, to include individual cash-on-hand as well as grocery funds for their stay(s) Bills for all respite and fee for service contracts Provides a monthly accounting of the recreation account to the Finance Manager for review
Required Skills:
Collaboration with internal teams, external teams, and management to ensure requirements are being met and projects are kept on schedule Strong leadership skills (positive influencing and problem solving) Excellent follow-up, time management and organization skills Strong editing, written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills; models positive attitude at all times Ability to make independent decisions Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously Proactive technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook), Google, Zoom, FaceTime.
Experience:
Experience with Virtual learning a plus 2+ years of management experience 2+ years of experience working in a field that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Advocacy:
Encourages individuals to share their wants, needs and desires Creates opportunities for their voices and choices to be heard and choices to be made Accepts direction from the individuals who receive service Education, Qualifications and/or
Special Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent Bachelor degree in relative field a plus
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to drive, stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, read, talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
