Job Description

Company Overview Resource, Support & Development, Inc. (RSD Inc.) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to providing community-based supports and services to adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Established in 1974, our mission is to empower individuals with special needs to make choices, expand opportunities, and achieve personal growth across multiple communities. Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through attentive support, patient observation, and personalized care plans. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in fostering a safe, respectful, and engaging environment that promotes independence and well-being. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor residents' health status by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition or behavior. Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care plan instructions to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary needs and assist residents during meal times. Operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance. Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through regular cleaning duties to promote a healthy environment. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans focused on resident goals and needs. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or hospice care is advantageous. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory care needs preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts. Strong communication skills coupled with patience, empathy, and respect for residents' dignity. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards essential for protecting resident information.
